Personal Experience
During the off-campus teaching there are so many experiences that I have encountered, not only the good times but also the problems and struggles that challenged me as a student teacher. First of all, I would say that I believed in saying that “Experience is the best teacher.” I believed on this because my experiences as a student teacher molded and prepared me to the reality of teaching. Whenever I teach, I learned something new. It is true that once you are a teacher you are forever be a student. There are many things that I had learned especially on how to handle situation; controlling my patience and how to have a good relationship with my students.
There is no perfect person. Even you are a good speaker there is some instances that you can commit mistakes. As a language teacher, sometimes I commit mistake in my pronunciation. For me, even if you are not good enough in speaking, as far as you are a good influence to the children you can be a best teacher for them.
Flexibility is very important, because you may learn a lot on how to develop a lesson despite of insufficient of materials to be used. In a classroom environment there are always students that misbehave during class discussion. When I encountered these, I always calm myself because I don’t want to affect my mood in teaching.
Inside the four corners of the classroom, I discovered individual differences. Children are different from each other especially in their behavior. I accept the fact that there is a student that needed a support and attention coming from the teacher especially those slow learners. There are instances that I reflect myself of what kind of a student am I during my high school life.
In almost three months of staying in Camaligan National High School, I will never forget the times when I always made my students laugh because of my jokes and pick-up lines. Because of those corny jokes, they gave me a nickname “Sir Knock Knock.” Every time I enter in their classroom they are always request for a joke or pick-up line. They said that even if it is “waley” it is “havey” for them because they appreciated my jokes even it is unworthy.
Obligations are always part of being a student teacher. One of those obligations is to perform every day and do our best. Here I experienced to sleep late at night always in order to finish my two lesson plan for Grade 7 and 4th year high school. Next are the visual aids that are very much needed in my discussions. As a student teacher, dedication is very important. Just like what my cooperating teacher said “I hope that you never forget your dedication in the profession you have chosen.” I bear it in my mind that I should stand of what career I had chosen because teaching is not a profession it is a vocation that really needs a dedication. Because of that, I always say to myself that I should always be prepared to the challenges that I will be facing in the field that I had chosen. Because of those experiences, I said to myself that soon I will become a good and effective teacher.

What went right?
During the off-campus teaching, one of the good things that I had experienced and encountered is the good relationship among the teachers in the school where I assigned. The way they treat me really gave me a courage and confidence to love the school. Some of the teachers have a helping hand. They are the teachers that are willing and easily to approach and ask for help. Some of the teachers always motivate me and always inspired me and saying that “Sir kaya mo ‘yan!” Every time I enter the classroom I always bring their trust and also my trust in myself that I can surpass the challenges of being a teacher.
